The Cambria Regional Chamber and their community partners are launching a new campaign.

To offset dark times small businesses face as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cambria Regional Chamber of Commerce has introduced its “Light Up Local” campaign this holiday season.

Shoppers are invited all month long to light up social media with the campaign’s hashtag – #lightuplocal – after they’ve shopped at a local business rather than an online national company. Click here to read the full article.

After months of fundraising and work, the grand opening of the Virtual Learning Center at The Flood City Youth Fitness Academy is scheduled for 4 p.m. Dec. 1.

Local students will be able to visit the 200 Lincoln St. location and use resources there to attend online classes, complete virtual assignments and receive on-site homework assistance.

Academy officials have purchased 20 desktop computers and 10 laptops, along with printers and new furniture. Click here to read the full article.

Holiday festivities began in Cambria County Friday night with the debut of the Hometown Christmas Stroll in Downtown Johnstown.

“We weren’t going to let this night go by without doing something. We look at it as our responsibility to the community to give them something on this night,” said Melissa Radovanic, President of the Discover Downtown Johnstown Partnership who organized this event.

This year would have been the 75th Anniversary of the “Hometown Christmas Parade” and “Light Up Night,” but the event has been adapted due to Covid-19. Click here for the full article.

A pair of outdoor recreation-focused grants will fund the planning of a six-county regional ATV trail system and enable the continued growth of the Ghost Town Trail, state Rep. Frank Burns, D-East Taylor Township, said Thursday.

The grants, worth a total of $482,524, were awarded to the Cambria County Conservation & Recreation Authority, which owns the Cambria County section of the Ghost Town Trail, and to the Allegheny Ridge Recreation Association, which will plan the ATV trail system. Click here to read more.
